History of shamrocks

The shamrock is now a traditional icon of St. Patrick's Day. This stems from the belief that St. Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. It is said that he used the shamrock in his sermons to explain how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity. Now shamrocks are widely worn on St. Patrick's Day.
