Auld Lang Syne - New Year's SongThe song, "Auld Lang Syne," is sung at the stroke of midnight in nearly every English-speaking country in the world to welcome the New Year. Early variations of the song were sung in the 17th century. But writer Robert Burns was inspired to recompose a modern rendition, and the revised version was published in 1796, after Burns' death. An old Scotch tune, "Auld Lang Syne" literally means "old long ago," or simply, "the good old days."
